According to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission)you need to take some action when you are a victom of identity theft. Most of the things that need to be done, such as filing a police report, can only be done by you.

The complete list can be found at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre39.shtm
but here is a quick rundown:

Contact your credit bureaus and have them put a fraud alert on your reports. This will stop fraudsters from applying for new credit in your name because accessing your report requires your express permission.

File a police report. This should be disseminated to all applicable agencies from the state to the federal level.

Close all accounts (make sure the companies know it's due to theft so that when you reopen them you don't lose your credit history). Make your new accounts accessible by password only.

File a complaint with the FTC at www.ftc.gov/idtheft

Continue to monitor your accounts. Check your credit report regularly, several times a year at first.

Do these credit resellers or rapid rescorers help you with identity theft other than getting the derogatory items off your report? If not are there agencies that cover all the bases?
